If you are using a hinged door dental autoclave, close the door completely, engage the locking pin and turn the locking mechanism until it stops moving. Be careful not to apply excessive force on the locking mechanism, as this can damage the door lock's gasket or internal mechanism. Simply tighten the locking mechanism until no further tightening is possible.

Select a cycle suitable for the contents of the box (eg gravity, liquid or vacuum). When choosing a cycle, keep in mind that gravity and vacuum cycles can cause liquid items to boil inside the chamber. Vacuum cycles may not be sufficient to sterilize porous or bagged goods. Liquid circulation takes longer, but will not damage goods that are suitable for gravity circulation, such as glassware or metal instruments.

Consult the dental autoclave manual for assistance in selecting the correct cycle parameters. Product manuals should be stored near the autoclave.

NOTE: Larger laboratory dental autoclave are equipped with a heating jacket. It is important to allow the equipment sufficient time to reach temperature before running a cycle (this can take up to an hour, depending on the size of the autoclave).

The autoclave of the Combined Sterilizer System includes an automatic on/off timer, called EcoCalendarTM, which allows you to set the unit to turn on or off at specific times of the day - for example, you can set the unit to time to reach temperature.

Do not attempt to open the dental autoclave door after the cycle has begun. As mentioned above, the autoclave door has a mechanical locking mechanism that can be damaged by excessive force. The mechanism does not disengage until the pressure in the chamber has dissipated. Even a few pounds per square inch of pressure on the autoclave can be a huge safety hazard for the user, and with enough force, the safety lock can be broken.
